Relief for commuters as Bakshi Bandh ROB opens in Prayagraj | Allahabad News – Times of India

Prayagraj: In a major relief to commuters of different localities, including Chota Bagadha, Allahapur and Daraganj etc, the newly constructed Bakshi Bandh railway over bridge (ROB) was opened for traffic on Wednesday.
Initially, it was to be opened on December 10 but due to some delay, the date was extended, project manager of UP Bridge Corporation, Anirudh Yadav said.
The construction work of the ROB had started in 2020 and was supposed to be ready by 2021. But due to certain complications, the work got delayed resulting in a hike in its budget from Rs 52 crore to Rs 74 crore.
The opening of the ROB will help many densely populated areas like Daraganj and Chhota Baghada. Commuters, who were forced to encounter traffic snarls due to the two railway crossings falling on the way– Prayagraj junction and Prayagraj Sangam station– would now be able to use the ROB connecting Daraganj with Allenganj area.
It is worth mentioning that the construction of another four ROBs is also nearing completion. It is believed that all these ROBs will be ready by March. The confidence stems from the fact that 93% construction of the Mazar Trisection ROB and 94% construction of Bhirpur Meja Marg ROB is also complete while Begum bazar ROB is 91% finished and the Rampur Marg ROB is also 91% complete.
“Our target is to start traffic on some ROBs by March and the work on the remaining would also get 70% to 80% complete by that time. The aim is to complete 98% to 99% of all construction works before the rains and make them operational immediately post rains. We are confident of finishing constructions of all ROBs and making them operational well before the formal start of Maha Kumbh-2025,” Yadav said.
