PRAYAGRAJ: At a time when Magh Mela 2024 is being viewed as a trial for Maha Kumbh 2025, administration is preparations keeping in mind the huge expected turn out of devotees. The UP State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) too has decided to put in place several facilities for the devotees coming to Magh Mela and keep a close vigil on the shortcomings, if any, so that the same can be rectified in Maha Kumbh.UPSRTC is preparing to operate 8,000 buses in the Magh Mela.
To enhance its fleet of buses, the corporation plans to call buses from across the state. Nine depots belonging to Prayagraj zone, including Civil Lines, Leader Road, Zero Road, Prayag Depot, Pratapgarh, Lalganj, Kaushambi, Badshahpur and Mirzapur depot will be given three hundred additional buses for operation. The arrangement for the additional buses, which have been sought from other districts of the state, would be pressed into service in view of the turnout of passengers during the main bathing days of the Magh Mela. The officials are of the opinion that planning executed for Magh Mela would come handy for Maha Kumbh.
For the devotees, buses will operate from Chhatnag, Jhunsi, Leprosy crossing, Naini, Engineering College, Teliarganj and Bamrauli bus stand.The sub control rooms of all the depots will be connected to the modern control room from the regional manager’s Magh Mela office. From this control room, information about location and availability of buses etc. can be obtained. The ARMs of the depot will be equipped with walkie-talkies as nodal officers and employees will also be put on duty to monitor the crowd of passengers.
