Iit-k’s Placement Drive Concludes With 989 Job Offers | Kanpur News – Times of India

Kanpur: The first phase of the placement season for the session 2023-24 at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT-K) has successfully concluded, marking a significant milestone with a total of 989 offers, including 22 from international banners.
Among these, 913 students, including those with Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs), have secured placements.
The current average salary stands impressively at Rs 26.27 LPA (lakh per annum). During Phase 1 of placements, IIT-Kanpur witnessed active participation of industry giants such as Microsoft, Fujitsu, Samsung, Reliance, Goldman Sachs, McKinsey, Texas Instruments, Qualcomm, Deutsche Bank, Tata Projects, Navi, Uniorbit, ICICI Bank, EXL, NPCI, Intel, TSMC, Bajaj Auto, Tata Steel, HPCL, SECI, C-DOT, NVIDIA, and more.
Director, IIT-Kanpur, Prof S Ganesh, congratulated the students and said, “We express our heartfelt gratitude to all the recruiters who have placed their trust in our students and the institute, offering valuable opportunities within their organizations.”
Chairperson of the Students’ Placement Office at IIT-Kanpur, Prof Raju Kumar Gupta, extended a warm invitation to esteemed industries and startups for the upcoming second phase of placements scheduled to commence in mid-January 2024.

IIT-Kanpur student found hanging in hostel room
A 35-year-old researcher, Dr Pallavi Chilka, was found hanging in her hostel room in Kanpur. She was a native of Odisha and worked in the department of biological sciences and bioengineering at IIT-Kanpur. The police, along with the forensic team, are conducting investigations into her death, which appears to be a case of suicide. The body has been sent for postmortem examination. Pallavi’s parents, who reside in Cuttack, Odisha, have been informed and are expected to arrive in Kanpur soon. Additional deputy commissioner of police Akash Patel stated that the postmortem report will determine the exact cause of death.
IIT-Roorkee Placements Rocket High: 802 Offers in 15 Days!
IIT-R’s Class of 2024 had a robust start to their final placements, receiving 802 offers from 172 companies in the initial 15 days. Notable companies like Accenture Japan, American Express, Google, Microsoft, Qualcomm India, and Reliance Industries participated, along with 23 international offers. Diverse companies like Apport Technologies, Dolat Capital Market, Quintics Management Consultancies, and Samsung R&D Noida were also involved. Despite hiring challenges, IIT-R remains optimistic about ongoing placements and its standing as a preferred choice for recruiters.
IIT-Kanpur professor, 53, dies during speech on health
A senior professor at the Indian Institute of Kanpur, Sameer Khandekar, died of cardiac arrest while delivering a speech at an alumni meet. He was rushed to Laxmipat Singhania institute of Cardiology but was declared dead upon arrival. His body will be kept at the health centre until his son arrives from Cambridge University. Khandekar, an IIT-K alumnus, was the head of the mechanical engineering department and dean of student welfare. He was also involved in the Shiksha Sopan programme and had heart-related issues for which he was taking medication.
