NOIDA: Liquor vends across the state will be allowed to remain open for an additional hour to on the eve of Christmas and New Year.
An order issued by excise commissioner D Senthil Pandiyan on Saturday said liquor shops have been allowed to remain open till 11pm instead of 10pm on December 24 and 31.
The move, officials said, is expected to boost revenue during the festival season.“We received an order from excise department. The local authorities have been directed to make necessary arrangements,” Noida excise officer Subodh Kumar said. The officer also advised people to get occasional bar licence if they plan to organise parties in farmhouses, societies and clubs where liquor is served.
Meanwhile, the new Excise Policy for 2024-25, cleared by the UP cabinet, now allows people to consume the brew, if they have 100 square feet space next to their vends. The district has 25 model, 141 IMFL and 140 beer shops. tnn
