Restrictions on BS-3 and 4 vehicles in Ggn & Fbd | Gurgaon News – Times of India

Gurgaon: A day after GRAP-3 was imposed in the state, the transport department on Saturday banned the plying of BS-3 petrol and BS-4 diesel vehicles in Gurgaon and Faridabad.
The restrictions will be in place till January 7 or till GRAP-3 is revoked by the Commission of Air Quality Management (CAQM).
On December 23, the transport commissioner of Haryana, Yashendra Singh, issued an order stating that no BS-3 petrol and BS-4 diesel vehicles should be allowed to ply in Gurgaon and Faridabad.This order was issued in accordance with stage 3 of the revised GRAP and Section 115 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. The order is effective immediately and will remain in force until January 7 or until the revocation of GRAP stage 3, whichever comes earlier.
There will be exceptions for vehicles deployed in emergency services, police vehicles, and government vehicles used for enforcement.
“If any BS-3 petrol and BS-4 vehicles are found plying on the roads of Gurgaon and Faridabad, they shall be prosecuted under Section 194(1) of Motor Vehicles Act, 1988,” the order said.
When the transport department imposed restrictions on BS-3 petrol and BS-4 diesel vehicles earlier in November, the city traffic police fined approximately 1,700 vehicles for violating the regulations.
The violation attracts a fine of Rs 20,000.
The city has around 1.5 lakh privately owned BS-3 petrol and over 36,000 BS-4 diesel vehicles registered. As for the commercial vehicles, there are 47,275 BS-4 diesel vehicles and around 2,166 BS-3 petrol vehicles.

This appeal is in response to the expected traffic congestion caused by the large turnout of cars on the e-way during the consecutive holidays. Heavy vehicles will be diverted or allowed to ply after the traffic jam is over, to prevent issues such as engine heating, brake failure, and slowing down of cars on the 15km-long ghat section with high gradient. After 12 noon, heavy vehicles plying towards Pune will have seamless travel and won’t face any further issues in the ghat section.
