Kanpur: In a shocking incident, a 12-year-old, class VI girl, was allegedly raped by her school van driver under the limits of Rawatpur police station area of the city.
The incident had taken place on Friday but came to light on Saturday after the police registered an FIR, following a complaint by the girl’s parents.
What was even more shocking was that when the girl went to school and narrated the ordeal to the management, she was told not to speak about the incident to anyone.However, after reaching home, she informed her parents about the sexual assault. They approached the local police with a complaint on the basis of which the police booked a case against the school van driver and three others, including the school manager and teacher. The police thereafter arrested the van driver and sent the girl for medical examination.
The survivor, a resident of a locality under the Rawatpur police station area, is a class VI student of a local private school. According to the complaint, the student had left home for school at 8 on Friday morning in a school van.
On the way, driver Kallu raped the student in the van, the parents alleged in the complaint. “The girl after reaching the school informed her class teacher about the incident”, they added.
The girl’s parents further alleged that later on, the class teacher took the girl to the principal, who then took her to the school manager. “The manager, however, asked the student to not reveal the incident to anyone,” they alleged and added after the school hours, the school authorities sent the girl back home in the van being driven by another driver.
On reaching home, the survivor informed about the incident to her family members.
Meanwhile, assistant commissioner of police, Naubasta, Abhishek Kumar Pandey, said, “School’s van driver has been arrested. Three other persons, including the school teacher, principal and manager are being questioned as they did not inform the police and instead concealed the facts. A police team was sent to the school to collect information about the entire incident. The statements of the class teacher, principal and manager were also recorded. All necessary documents required at the time of admission of the child were also taken. The matter is being investigated thoroughly.”
