SWR Inks Pact with JSW for Five Specialised Wagons | Indian News | Hubballi News – Times of India

Hubballi: The South Western Railway (SWR) and JSW Minerals Rail Logistics Private Limited entered into an agreement on Friday for operation of five BOBSNS rakes, a special type of wagon with ‘side discharge’ arrangement for unloading which will be put to use for transportation of iron ore from the mines at Mineral Enterprises Ltd Siding, Sasalu & Swamihalli to the steel plant of JSW at Tornagallu.
This is in addition to seven rakes for which agreement was signed on October 17, this year. Thus, a total of 12 BOBSNS rakes shall be procured by JSW Minerals Rail Logistics Private Limited. The rake is manufactured by Titagarh Rail System Limited, Kolkata and the first rake is expected to operate from April, 2024. JSW Minerals Rail Logistics Private Limited is investing Rs 29.6 crore per rake. A rebate of 10% is granted to the customer on base freight for every booking.
The introduction of BOBSNS wagon will ease out the unloading difficulty through wagon tippler or manually and save time.
The agreement was signed by A Sundar, chief commercial manager/freight marketing, SWR and Sushil Nowal, executive vice- president (planning and logistics), JSW in the presence of Satya Prakash Shastri, principal chief commercial manager, SWR; Aravinda Herle G, deputy chief commercial manager, freight service, SWR and JSW officials, according to a press release by Dr Manjunath Kanamadi, chief public relations officer, SWR, Hubballi.
