“We decided to make wives of police personnel entrepreneurs by providing training on preparing snacks and food items for 15 days. He said the city police would help them become women entrepreneurs, assist them to get all types of training, and arrange loans. “We are planning to conduct another exhibition at a public place soon,” Balakrishnan said.
The training programme was a result of a survey conducted by the department of business administration, PSGR Krishnammal College for Women, Peelamedu, to identify spending patterns of the police personnel attached to the armed reserve (AR) of the city police. The survey was conducted in June 2023.
The study was conducted among 98 police personnel, including 59 male and 39 female police from the rank of sub-inspector of police, special sub-inspector, head constable and constable. It revealed that their spouses were unemployed, 40% were not preparing a monthly budget, and 42 % were uninsured. The spouses were able to save only 1,000 -2000 per month.
The spending pattern of police personnel seems to be of high concern.
