Ludhiana: City-based environmental activists gathered near Jalandhar Bypass chowk on Sunday to spread awareness on the need to reduce pollution in Buddha Dariya, Satluj and other water bodies.
They gathered near Dr B R Ambedkar’s statue and distributed leaflets to the commuters, highlighting the continued environmental degradation. They discussed issues related to the rampant pollution with the public.The team led by social activist Dan Singh Osahan gathered at one of the main entrance points to the city to spread awareness among a vast majority of people. Dan Singh urged the agencies responsible for providing a pollution-free environment to the public to fulfil their duties.
He also urged the CM to take stock of the precarious situation leading to serious repercussions, affecting the health of lakhs of people of Malwa for a long period of time. He said that promises made must be fulfilled on a priority basis. tnn
