Kanpur: Principal secretary transport L Venkateswarlu directed the district officials to identify the cause of road accidents, review them and ensure safety measures on priority basis.
On the occasion of Road Safety Fortnight, a meeting was held with various stakeholders and the officials concerned at Vikas Bhawan under the chairmanship of the principal secretary transport.
He asked the officials concerned to take preventive action on priority in the black spots identified in the districts. Regular road safety meetings should be organized in the districts, he said.
“Traffic jam problem in the city needs to be improved for which public cooperation is necessary. People should not park their vehicles on the road outside their houses and shops”, said the principal secretary.He specifically directed th e officials to cancel driving licenses of those found violating traffic rules, and this should be widely publicized so that people become aware and do not violate traffic rules. He said that speed limit signage should be installed on the roads, and minor children should not be allowed to drive vehicles. Strict compliance with traffic rules should be ensured and people who help accidents victims should be honoured, he added.tnn
