Noida: Continuing action against improper waste management, the Greater Noida Authority has imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on two societies for dumping unsegregated waste in their basements.
The public health department is running a drive on the directions of NG Ravi Kumar, Greater Noida Authority CEO.
The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority’s (GNIDA) OSD Indu Prakash Singh and senior manager Utsav Niranjan, along with a team from the public health department inspected Devika Gold Home in Sector 1 and SKA Green Arch in Sector-16B on Saturday.
The team found no segregation of waste collected in the basements of the societies. Officials added that the garbage was also not sprayed with the mandatory chemicals, which led to a foul smell in the neighbourhood.
The public health department has imposed a fine of Rs 81,600 on Devika Gold Home, while SKA Green Arch was fined Rs 20,200 for violating the Solid Waste Management-2016 rule.
Meanwhile, the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority has also imposed fines on several bulk waste generators in the last few days in various locations.
The authority officials warned that all the bulk waste generators should ensure their garbage disposal on their own or else strict action will be taken against them.
CEO Kumar has also appealed to all the bulk waste generators to manage the waste properly and cooperate with all the residents in keeping Greater Noida clean, or else action will be taken against improper waste management.
