Martyr’s body will be sent to his village – Kanpur officials assure | Kanpur News – Times of India

Kanpur: Following rumours doing rounds on social media, wherein it was claimed that Army will not hand over the mortal remains of martyr Karan Kumar Yadav to his family members, scores of people of his village protested and blocked the GT Road and demanded to send his body to his native village.
On receiving the information, district and police officials reached the spot and pacified the protesters and assured them not to believe in such rumours, and the government is making all efforts to bring the martyr’s body to his native village for the last rites.
Armyman Karan Kumar Yadav (29) of Chaubepur in Kanpur was one of the five soldiers martyred in the terrorist attack on Army vehicles passing through dense forests in Rajouri, Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.
Additional deputy commissioner of police (West) Akash Patel said that Army officers had visited the martyr’s village on Friday and took his family members, including his wife Anju and their two children with them to Udhampur to participate in a condolence programme.
“A misunderstanding arose among the locals when the contact with the family members who had gone to Udhampur was lost due to poor mobile phone network.
Meanwhile, someone spread this news on the social media that the Army personnel are not giving the dead body of the martyr due to which people here got angry and staged protest,” he said and added, “We have spoken to the Army officers there, who said that there has been a slight delay in the condolence programme due to which there has been a delay in handing over the body to the family members. The body will be handed over to the family soon.”
