‘Tech-driven swadeshi model to achieve Vishwaguru goal’ | Goa News – Times of India

MARGAO: Union minister for road transport & highways Nitin Gadkari on Saturday advocated a development model anchored in ethics and economy and committed to the preservation of ecology and environment to make Bharat the Vishwaguru.
Stating that the uplift of the last citizen on the lines of the antyodaya principle was true nationalism, Gadkari said that an economic model that aimed to minimise imports and maximise exports leading to the nation’s self-reliance was patriotism in the real sense.
Gadkari made these remarks in his keynote address at “Sagar Manthan: Good Governance Dialogue” held in Cavelossim and organised by Panchjanya, a right-wing periodical.
“To ensure the welfare of the poor, the farmers, and the labour class, we need to develop a system that protects jal (water), jamin (land), jungle and janvar (forests) and is equipped with an advanced outlook,” Gadkari said. “Technology should be linked to our value-based ideology, to swadesh and swavalamban, to make India powerful.”
He said that all political ideologies since Independence have failed. He said communism lost its relevance, socialism split into factions and described Congress that implemented policies based on socialism as a “confused party”.
Stating that RSS was founded on the principles of vyakti nirman (development of a person) and rashtra nirman (nation building), Gadkari made a strong pitch for the adoption of advanced technology in furtherance of the Hindu sanskriti.
“Having faith in one’s religion cannot be construed as a communal outlook,” Gadkari said. “Dharma is linked to kartavya (duty) as in a code of conduct. There’s no place for a communal outlook in Hindu sanskriti. Hindu culture doesn’t divide a society. It professes the welfare of the world.”
Gadkari emphasised increasing exports and reducing imports which he said was in itself nationalism and swadeshi, as he said the money saved on exports would go towards the uplift of the poor.
“The import of petrol, diesel and fossil fuel is linked to terrorism. Until the import of these items is stopped, terrorism in the world will not end,” he said. “It will be a new freedom for India when not a drop of petrol and diesel is imported into the country.”
He also said that India’s automobile industry would be number one in the world in the next five years.
