Salem: As rainfall has stopped across the catchment areas, the inflow to Mettur dam started to decrease from Saturday night. While the water inflow stood at 1,600 cusecs till Saturday night throughout the week, it came down to 1,399 cusecs.
However, a water resources department (WRD) official said that the water level in the dam was gradually increasing due to a lesser quantity of water being released from it.The dam’s water level stood at 70.73ft against its full capacity of 120ft on Sunday. “We have 33.33tmc ft of water in the dam,” the official said, adding that they have released 250 cusecs of water from the dam for drinking water purposes.“The water level is on the rise because the outflow is lesser than the inflow level,” he said. The dam’s water level stood at 120ft on December 24 last year. TNN
