Silchar: Yaba tablets valued at Rs 10 crore were seized and five men (all from Manipur) apprehended during a joint operation by the police and BSF personnel in Cachar district’s Salchapra on Monday.
SP (Cachar) Numal Mahatta said a team of police and BSF personnel, based on intelligence inputs, conducted an operation in Salchapra, around 13km from Silchar town, on Monday and intercepted a car.On searching the car, 50,000 Yaba tablets were found in “secret chambers” of the vehicle, he said.
Five men, identified as Munglian Khup (29), P. Thangkhan Lun, Dpu Khan Lian (42), N. Alex Laljahao (32) and Paulianmuan (44), who were found in the car, were arrested. They hail from Churachandpur, Manipur.
The price of the narcotics substance in the international black market is about Rs. 10 crore, Mahatta said.
