19-year-old student killed in Bihar over land row | Patna News – Times of India

PATNA: A 19-year-old student was shot dead near Hasanganj railway crossing under Town police station area in Sheikhpura district on Monday. The incident took place when Suraj Kumar, son of Krishna Yadav, was going to attend his coaching classes.
The deceased was a resident of Teldih village under Ariyari police station area in the district. The body was sent to Sadar Hospital for postmortem.Family land dispute is said to be the reason behind the incident, police said.
Sheikhpura SP Kartikeya Sharma said Suraj was living at a rented accommodation at Bengali Colony in the town. “He had returned home on Sunday. His village is around 10km from the town. He was returning to the town on his bicycle when some bike-borne criminals gunned him down. His father has filed a named FIR against four persons. The accused are his relatives and had an old dispute over ancestral property. They are absconding. The police are conducting raids at the possible hideouts of the accused,” he said.
Town station house officer Binod Ram said Suraj had covered a distance of 8km from his home when he was shot dead at a distance of 1km from the Town police station.
