Coach Derails As Train Hits Buffalo In Balotra | Jaipur News – Times of India

Jaisalmer: The loco pilot of a passenger train going from Jodhpur to Palanpur applied emergency brakes as a buffalo came before the train, due to which the coach behind the engine derailed, near Samdari railway station in Balotra district on Sunday night.
Railway engineers and staff reached the spot along with Jodhpur division DRM Pankaj Kumar. With the help of JCB and crane, the coach was put back on the tracks.Rail traffic on this route was stopped from 9pm to 1am due to which other trains got delayed by 3 hours. The train finally departed after 4 hours at 1am when the route was cleared. After this incident, Palanpur-Jodhpur train number 14894 was cancelled for Monday.
DRM Kumar said that the rail tracks cracked due to the incident and had to be repaired. The train’s passengers after the incident were sent to their destination by buses arranged by the railway department.
Pooja Bai, a passenger in the train, said that passengers were sleeping when suddenly a big noise was heard and the train halted with a big jolt. Everyone got down and later came to know that a coach had derailed due to some animal coming before the train. Another passenger said that the train had started from Jodhpur at 7pm and stopped suddenly about 200 metres before Samdari railway station.
