NEW DELHI: Delhi shrouded in a dense blanket of fog as the temperature dropped to 7 degrees Celsius, almost one degree below the seasonal average on Tuesday morning. Reduced visibility caused by the thick fog was observed in various parts of the city, including Safdarjung, Anand Vihar, and India Gate.
Visibility at Delhi’s primary weather station in Safdarjung was recorded at 200 meters at 5:30am, while it measured 100 meters at Palam.
The Delhi airport authorities reported delays for approximately 30 flights, including international ones, attributed to fog and reduced visibility.
Fourteen experienced delays in their arrival due to the foggy conditions.
As per the weather forecast, isolated pockets of Delhi and its surrounding areas are expected to witness very dense fog.
On Monday, the city was enveloped in a thick layer of fog, and the minimum temperature settled at 7.8 degrees Celsius.
At 9:05am, the Air Quality Index (AQI) of the national capital stayed in the “very poor” category, recording a reading of 374.
