CG women secure silver at Natl fencing championship
Chhattisgarh’s women secured a silver medal in the 18th Cadet National Fencing Championship. They displayed outstanding performance, defeating Delhi and Chandigarh in the Epee events team championship. In the semifinals, they defeated Gujarat and qualified for the gold. However, they fell short in the final against Maharashtra and won the silver medal. Riba Beni and Roopali Sahu also played a significant role in securing a bronze medal for the state in the Goa National Games.

Deportation of Yemen nat’l detained in Pune stayed
The Bombay High Court has stayed the deportation of Fahd, a Yemini national who was detained in Pune police custody. Fahd, who is married to an Indian citizen, was detained due to lack of a designated detention centre as required under the Foreigners Act. The High Court ordered his release and directed the FRRO to decide his application for an OCI card and visa. The matter is scheduled for hearing on January 8.

8 Nepali nat’ls held at airport with fake NOC
Eight persons from Nepal were stopped from boarding the flight for Kuwait and UAE after immigration officials at Mumbai Airport discovered their fake no objection certificates (NOC) and labor permits. Two women, Maili Bhomjan and Bhagwati Dangi, were arrested for producing a fake labor permit. In a separate incident, six men, Raj Kumar Tamang, Rupal Khadka, Arun Khadka, Karan Bohara, Sujan Bohara, and Dipesh Lamichhane, were detained for possessing fake NOC of the Nepal Embassy. The accused have been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
