CHENNAI: The CMBT police traced a bag with 15 lakh cash that was lost in an autorickshaw in just two hours on Sunday.
Viswanathan, 52, of Bengaluru had come to Chennai on Saturday to meet his brother. On Sunday, he visited a friend in Virugambakkam. Later, he returned to his place in an autorickshaw.
Soon, he realised that he had left his bag in the autorickshaw and lodged a complaint with the Chennai Moffusil Bus Terminus (CMBT) police.
A police team led by Koyambedu crime wing inspector Rajesh started tracking the autorickshaw with the help of the registration number Viswanathan provided. With the help of CCTV footage, they managed to track the vehicle.
It was intercepted near Koyambedu and a police team retrieved the bag which was still in the rear seat. Auto driver S Thiagarajan, 48, told the police team that he was not aware of the bag that was left behind by the passenger.
The money was handed over to Viswanathan after he submitted necessary documents.
