Rajinikanth’s Wife Appears in Court | Latest News | Bengaluru News – Times of India

Bengaluru: Latha Rajinikanth, wife of actor Rajinikanth, on Tuesday appeared before a Bengaluru court in relation to a criminal case filed by a Chennai-based firm over a dispute arising out of “Kochadaiiyaan”, a film starring her husband.
The court granted Latha bail on a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh and Rs 25,000 in cash. The court also instructed Latha not to influence witnesses and remain present whenever the court issues her summons.
On December 1, 2023, the court directed Latha’s counsel to ensure her presence in the court, as the offences levelled against her are non-bailable in nature.
The complainant submitted that Latha, the accused, knowing fully well that “The Publishers and Broadcasters Welfare Association of India” is not in existence, had filed a false statement and a sworn affidavit before a civil court and, thereby, played fraud on the court and obtained an injunction order dated December 2, 2014, barring nearly 70 media houses from reporting about a cheating case filed in relation to certain financial disputes connected with the film Kochadiiyaan.
The complainant said the suit filed by Latha Rajinikanth was finally disposed of on December 13, 2015, citing that it was barred by “territorial jurisdiction” and, hence, she had committed an offence as laid under Sections 196, 199, and 463, of the IPC. The Karnataka high court partially quashed the proceedings against Latha, on August 2, 2022, in respect to offences under Sections 196,199, and 420 of the IPC, but the Supreme Court, in an order dated October 10, 2023, restored those offences.
