Ramlila Committees, Gayatri Parivar To Distribute Akshat | Allahabad News – Times of India

Prayagraj: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has roped in Ramlila and Durga puja committees and Patanjali and Gayatri Pariwars, saints of Sikh, Baudh and Jain sects for distribution of akshat (unbroken rice used in puja), patrak (invitation), pataka and photo of Ram temple in over 22,000 villages in 20 districts of Kashi Prant between January 1 and 15. While chalking out plans to reach out to over 10 lakh houses of Kashi Prant, VHP office bearers claimed that a mega connect drive ‘grah sampark abhiyan’ will help in connecting every household with the consecration ceremony by asking Hindu community to celebrate the occasion from their homes and visit Ayodhya once the temple opens for public.
VHP spokesman Ashwani Mishra said: “The campaign would begin from January 1 and continue till January 15. The pujit akshat will also be kept at temples and mutts in over 22,000 villages of Kashi Prant. The live telecast of consecration ceremony will be organised at temples and mutts on January 22.”
Moreover, all Hindu families would be celebrating Diwali on January 22 by lighting at least five diyas (earthen lamps) at their respective houses.
For the distribution of saffron flags, VHP has also formed a team of five volunteers at village level who would be covering at least 100 houses per day. From January 18 to 22, prabhat pheris would also be taken out at villages, blocks and cities.
“Formation of tolis (groups) for distribution of akshat, patrak and photo of lord Ram temple has been completed and packets of akshat are also being made,” he added.
Mishra added that earlier, the biggest campaign launched by the VHP, RSS and other Hindu frontal organisations was the collection of ‘samarpan nidhi’ (fund) for Ram temple after the Supreme Court gave its judgment in favour of construction of the temple in Ayodhya.
“Around 16 crore households were reached out for collection of donations. Around 65 crore population was covered during the campaign,” Mishra added.
