UP Police Recruitment: Upper Age Limit Extended by 3 Years | Lucknow News – Times of India

LUCKNOW: In a big relief to the youth preparing for police recruitment, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath announced a relaxation of three years in the age limit for upcoming recruitment for constables. The decision was attributed to the three-year gap in recruitment caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
He directed principal secretary, home, Sanjay Prasad that the maximum age limit in this year’s recruitment should be increased from 22 years to 25 years.
The maximum age for general male aspirants is now 25 years while for females, it’s 28 years. Similarly, for reserved category students, the maximum age limit has been raised to 30 and 33 years for males and females, respectively.
The UP government on December 23 had issued notification for the largest police recruitment drive in the state’s history under which 60,244 constables would be hired.

According to a state government spokesperson, an annual recruitment of around 10,000 constables is expected every year.
In the December 23 notification, the age limit set for the aspirant was from 18 years to 22 years only.
Since the release of this re cruitment notification, many youths were demanding to increase the age limit.
Considering the demand of the youth as legitimate, CM Yogi has decided to give relaxation of three years in the upper age limit for youth of all categories in the ongoing pro cess for recruitment to the posts of constable, a home official added.
Announcing this on his X account, the CM said that the government is fully committed to protecting the interests of the youth and their bright future. In the ongoing process for recruitment to the posts of constable in the civil police branch of UP Police, it has been decided to give relaxation of three years in the upper age limit for all categories of candidates. A senior home department official said that the state government, continuously focusing on ‘Mission Employment’, has given a big gift to the youth of the state on December 23 by issuing the notification for the biggest police recruitment of 60,244 constables. Out of these, 24,102 positions are reserved for the general category, 6,024 for EWS, 16,264 for other backward classes, 12,650 for Scheduled Castes, and 1,204 for Scheduled Tribes. Reservation for women has also been prescribed in the notification. About 20% of positions have been reserved for women.
