Agri Varsity Hosts Lifestyle Exhibition | Ludhiana News – Times of India

Ludhiana: The department of apparel and textile science, College of Community Science, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), organised a two-day exhibition-cum-sale of lifestyle products. The event showcased beautiful products like bed sheets, scarves, cushion covers, embroidered and painted wall panels and trays, coasters, pouches, and aprons made by the elective students of the department under the experiential learning programme.
Inaugurating the exhibition, the dean of the college of community science Kiran Bains appreciated the efforts of the students.Harminder Kaur Saini, professor and head of the department, said that experiential learning unit of the department imparted skills to the students for starting their own enterprise in high end stitching of lifestyle products, painting, printing and embroidery. The guests from different colleges of the university visited the exhibition and purchased unique hand-made products made by the students.
Training in soybean and milk processing
The skill development centre at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) conducted a training programme on ‘Soybean and milk processing’ in association with the department of food science and technology.
As many as 23 youths and women attended the programme held under the gudiance of M S Bhullar, director of extension education. Rupinder Kaur, associate director of skill development, PAU, said that entrepreneurship was a gateway to economic sustainability.
Course coordinator Prerna Kapila shared the details of the training programmes organised by the skill development centre for the benefit of farmers, rural women and youths. Food technologists Arshdeep Singh, Kamaljit Kaur and Hanuman Bobade imparted practical training in the preparation of value added products from the processing of soybean and milk. Gurpreet Singh coordinated the visit of the trainees to Soybean Processing Unit, Jangpur village.
