Ludhiana: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday interacted with thousands of beneficiaries from across the country under the ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’ via video conferencing. To facilitate the event, Ludhiana municipal corporation (MC) organised a mega camp in Jawahar Nagar camp area on MC commissioner Sandeep Rishi’s directions.
A large number of beneficiaries and residents participated in the mega camp organised in the city.Display screens were also installed in the area.
During the event, PM Narendra Modi not only addressed the beneficiaries, but also interacted with them. The Prime Minister appealed to the residents to avail benefit of various government schemes including PM SVAnidhi scheme, Ayushman card, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, and Ujjwala scheme.
The municipal corporation officials stated that during the mega camp, the MC teams informed the participants about different government schemes and how to avail benefits under them. To register eligible residents under different government schemes, regular camps are being organised across the city under the ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’, the civic body officials said.
The drive will continue till January 21, the officials stated.
MC additional commissioner Paramdeep Singh, additional deputy commissioner Rupinder Pal Singh, MC joint commissioner Kulpreet Singh, zonal commissioner Jasdev Singh Sekhon, former cabinet minister Sunder Sham Arora, district and BJP president Rajnish Dhiman, among others, were present during the event.
Nationwide initiative
‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’ is a nationwide initiative aimed at achieving the full implementation of government flagship schemes.
The goal of the initiative is to ensure that the benefits of these programmes reach all intended beneficiaries within a specified time frame.

No beneficiary in Raj of loan scheme for women
The National Backward Classes Finance and Development Corporation (NBCFDC) has reported that there have been no beneficiaries in Rajasthan under the New Swarnima Loan Scheme in the last two years. In 2020-21, 553 beneficiaries in the state received benefits from the scheme. Across the country, a total of 6,193 beneficiaries were benefited in 2020-21, 7,764 in 2021-22, and 5,573 in 2022-23. The scheme targets women belonging to backward classes with an annual family income of less than Rs 3 lakh, providing them with loans up to Rs 2 lakh at a lower interest rate.
