CHENNAI: A 22-year-old IT employee jumped to her death from the sixth floor of an office building in Navalur on Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR) on Tuesday night.
N Nivedha, a native of Goundanpalayam in Coimbatore, had been employed with a private IT firm in Navalur in Chengelpet district for the past year. She was staying with her friends at a rented accommodation in the locality.
Around 10.15pm on Tuesday, security personnel in the office were alerted by a thud and found a young woman lying unconscious in a pool of blood.
On information, police rushed to the scene and moved her to a hospital, where she was declared brought dead. She had suffered severe head injuries in the fall.

Investigations revealed that Nivedha was on a long phone call moments before she jumped from the sixth floor of the building.
Police said she was found arguing with the person on the other end of the call and was seen hurriedly leaving the place.
Police are scanning the call records to get details of the person with whom she last spoke and to ascertain the reason behind her decision to jump.
Nivedha did not leave behind any suicide note. Inquiries with her friends revealed that she was upset over an issue for the past few days and had been making frequent calls, taking breaks from work.
Police are also questioning her friends to determine whether she faced any sort of work pressure. Police have obtained the CCTV camera footage from the building.
The Thazhambur police sent the woman’s body to the Chengalpet government hospital for a postmortem examination.
