SRIKAKULAM: A journalist in a Telugu daily committed suicide by consuming pesticides and his suicide note created a sensation as he accused the MLA Gorle Kiran Kumar of Etcherla and another YSRCP leader Lankalapalli Gopi of Laveru mandal of harassing him. The duo’s harassment was a reason behind his suicide. The deceased was identified as Girija Damodar of Laveru Mandal in the district.
According to police, 45-year-old Damodar has been working for a Telugu Daily newspaper for the past decade. He had not returned home a couple of days ago and was found lifeless in Ranastalam mandal. His family members and relatives accused the MLA and another leader had harassing Damodar.
Cops revealed that they found a suicide note in Damodar‘s pocket which alleged that MLA Gorle Kiran Kumar of YSRCP and Laveru YSRCP leader Lankalapalli Gopi harassed him severely. Because of their torture, he alleged in the suicide note that he took the extreme step. Cops sent the body for postmortem in RIMS in Srikakulam and registered a case.
Etcherla MLA Gorle Kiran Kumar accused his name of being dragged into the issue to damage his name politically. He said Damodar was a good friend of him and asked the police to investigate the case fairly..
