Jaisalmer: A 30-year-old technician at a solar power plant of Reliance Power at Dhudsar in Pokhran subdivision of Jaisalmer district died of electrocution at the plant while on duty on Wednesday night. His family members refused to accept the body and along with locals and people of the community are sitting on dharna in front of the power plant, demanding compensation of Rs 3 crore and a job to the deceased man’s wife.
Managers of the power plant and police officers twice held talks with the family members but it failed to quell the protest. Former MLA Sang Singh Bhati and other local leaders, including Gulab Singh Guddi, have joined the protesters. The father of the deceased has lodged a case against the company’s managers. Police have kept the body in the local mortuary.
Jagdish Kumawat, 30, was working as technician at the Dhursar solar plant. He suffered serious burn injuries due to electrocution and was brought to Pokhran government hospital where but doctors declared him as dead. News of his death sparked anger and a large number of people gathered outside the hospital in the night.
On Thursday, family members along with a large number of locals began their dharna outside the solar plant. Former MLA Bhati and other leaders reached the power plant and raised the demand for compensation and investigation into the death. .
Pokhran SP Kailash Vishnoi said that the family members were agitated and they have raised many demands. He said the situation was under control.

Water supply in Gurgaon was affected due to a power supply disruption at the Chandu Budhera water treatment plant. The plant could only supply two-thirds of its capacity, impacting the Sector 51 boosting station. The power supply was restored after 14 hours, and the water supply has resumed. However, residents criticized the metropolitan authority for not providing timely information about the repair status. In Sushant Lok-2, the water crisis was worsened by defunct motor pumps and poor water quality from tankers.
