PANAJI: As the New Year approaches, Goa finds itself enveloped in an unexpected warmth, marking a departure from the typical winter chill.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts a continuation of dry weather prevailing over Goa throughout the weekend. No significant alterations in weather patterns have been projected for the region. The IMD’s extended forecast indicates a prolonged spell of dry conditions expected to persist from December 30 to January 4.
“On December 30, isolated places may experience haze or shallow fog, while the overall weather is anticipated to remain dry,” stated the IMD in its weather advisory. Further, minimal fluctuations in minimum temperatures are expected over 24 hours on Saturday, maintaining the prevailing climate pattern.
Despite a slight chill on Friday, wherein parts of the region experienced a peculiar haze and fog-like scenario during the early morning hours, the day witnessed a swift return of the heat by late morning, with Panaji recording a maximum temperature of 35.4°C.
This atypical warmth during the winter season has stirred curiosity among locals and tourists alike, as the region typically encounters cooler temperatures at this time of the year.
As residents and visitors prepare to bid farewell to 2023 and usher in the New Year, Goa’s unexpected warmth amid dry weather conditions sets the tone for a distinctive beginning to 2024.
