Kolkata: Khalid Jamil on Sunday was appointed the coach of Jamshedpur FC for the remainder of the season after the club decided to mutually part ways with coach Scot Cooper after their 1-4 defeat against Odisha FC in Bhubaneswar on December 29.
Jamil rose to fame when he won the I-League helping Aizawl FC win the top-tier league of the time in in 2016-17.
Following brief stints with East Bengal and Mohun Bagan, Khalid’s first tryst with Indian Super League was with NorthEast United FC where he signed as the head of academy during the 2019-20 season. He was handed the reins of NEUFC on an interim basis in 2020-21. He was made NEUFC’s head coach next season, becoming the first Indian to achieve the feat in the ISL’s history.
“Our target is to bring Jamshedpur to a better position and for that we all must work hard,” said Jamil.
