Jaipur: Doctors at the trauma centre of SMS Hospital remained busy on the night of New Year’s eve as road traffic accident victims kept pouring. As per figures available on Monday morning, at least 30 road accident victims were admitted at the hospital’s trauma centre. They had received injuries in road accidents while returning home after celebrations in the intervening night of Sunday and Monday.
“We admitted 39 patients, and at least 30 of them were those who were injured in road accidents while returning home after New Year’s Eve celebration,” said Dr Anurag Dhakar, the nodal officer of Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedics (ITO) of SMS Hospital.

Two youths killed in road accident
Two youths were killed in a bike racing accident at Muttathara Bridge near Kallumoodu on the Enchakkal-Thiruvallom bypass road. The deceased, Sayed Ali and Shibin, were coming back from a New Year party at Enchakkal. CCTV visuals revealed that Shibin hit a divider and fell down, while Sayed Ali collided with the fallen bike. Both suffered head injuries and were taken to Medical College Hospital where they died. The police registered a case and conducted post-mortem and inquest proceedings. Due to previous accidents, bike racing along this stretch had been banned, with several notices issued to racers in the area.
