MrBeast issued a cutting reply to Elon Musk’s request to post his content directly on X.
“I uploaded, go watch or I’ll drop kick you,” MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, wrote on X on Saturday.
A user then responded by asking Mr Beast to “upload on this platform too.” Musk joined in the conversation and said, “Yeah.”
“My videos cost millions to make and even if they got a billion views on X it wouldn’t fund a fraction of it,” MrBeast responded to Musk.
“I’m down though to test stuff once monetization is really cranking!” he added.
In an interview in 2022, MrBeast spoke about the massive budget to produce his videos.
“I could be doing cheaper videos,” he told the outlet, adding, “But I just don’t want to. I want to push the boundaries to go bigger, bigger.”
X revenue-sharing programme
X began its advertising revenue-sharing program last year. On video monetisation, Musked asked how YouTube monetisation works and sought what the platform could do better in that regard.
A user replied saying that if X gives a small cut of Twitter Blue revenue and “40% of the ads that run in the long-form content, that would be perfect.”
Another user said that “YouTube gives creators 55% of ad revenue, FWIW” (for what it’s worth). To this, Musk replied by saying, “We can beat that.”
Soon after releasing funds to creators, Musk said the first set of payments to creators totaled $5 million, with some users reporting large payouts.
