ONDC: Income Tax department clarifies applicability of TDS liability for online retailers
The CBDT has clarified the TDS liability of e-retailers trading through the government’s ONDC initiative. As per the CBDT’s FAQs, a 1% TDS should be deducted from the gross sale amount, including convenience/packaging/shipping fees. The CBDT received representations seeking clarity on TDS compliance under I-T laws. It clarified that the supplier side, who releases the payment to the supplier, is responsible for TDS compliance in transactions involving multiple e-commerce operators.
Latecoming employees to BMC office to face pay cut
Latecomers to the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation office will face a pay cut of the entire day. The civic body has issued an order stating that coming late will be treated as absence, resulting in a no-work-no-pay situation for employees who arrive even five minutes late. The office schedule requires employees to arrive and mark their attendance between 9.45 am and 10.15 am, with a 15-minute grace period for emergencies. The order is part of the 5T initiative to ensure timely government work and promote work-life balance.
