Oil tanker catches fire on Amritsar Delhi Highway near Khanna | Ludhiana News – Times of India

LUDHIANA: An oil tanker caught fire after it rolled over under mysterious circumstances on the elevated road near Khanna Bus stand around noon on Wednesday. Meanwhile there was no loss of life in the blaze even as traffic remained disturbed on Amritsar Delhi national Highway for more than two and half hours.
DSP Khanna Rajesh Sharma told TOI that an oil tanker was on it’s way from Jalandhar to Mandi Gobindgarh when on the elevated Highway near Khanna, it rolled over after hitting the median space of the road at around 12.10 pm.He added that after it met with the accident, oil from the tanker spilled out there was fire on the road.
Police officer said that driver and cleaner of the vehicle are safe. He added that after the incident, around six fire tenders, from Khanna and Mandi Gobindgarh, were pressed into service and fire was controlled in around two and half hours.
Police officer said that NHAI team has visited the area and one side of road has been closed due to damage. He added that road will be opened after clearance from them.
Local sources said that traffic was plying on one side of the road. They added that there was traffic related issue on the Highway near Khanna for many hours.
