Pune: State revenue minister and senior BJP leader Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil on Tuesday said that some leaders from the Congress are in touch with his party and once the Lok Sabha election is announced, they will join the grand alliance.
Vikhe Patil was in Nashik where he interacted with mediapersons on seat-sharing among the alliance partners for the general election, Maratha quota agitation and several other ongoing issues.
The minister said, “There is no leadership left in the Congress. As a result, many in the state want to leave it. These changes will be visible soon. MVA leaders have come together for seat sharing but they are not bothered about their parties or the workers. They are interested only in their own future.”
On the Mahayuti’s seat-sharing formula, the minister said that a decision will be taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and home minister Amit Shah.
“Both, chief minister Eknath Shinde and deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar, have accepted the Prime Minister’s leadership. They have full faith in his decision-making abilities. There will not be any disagreement among any of the grand alliance parties on seat sharing. We will contest the general election as a unit. That is not the case with the MVA,” Vikhe Patil said.
MVA leaders countered Vikhe Patil’s statements by questioning his loyalty. Rajya Sabha MP and senior Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut said Vikhe Patil has changed parties several times.
“He was with Shiv Sena and then he went to the Congress before going with the BJP. Leaders like him do not think twice before changing parties. Time will tell who goes where but when the BJP is out of power, where will Vikhe Patil go? He should start thinking about it,” Raut added.
