In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Raghavan revealed that he had initially considered Saif for the lead role due to their prior collaborations in ‘Ek Hasina Thi’ and ‘Agent Vinod.’
However, as the script evolved, Raghavan sensed something amiss and discussed his concerns with producer Ramesh Taurani.
Despite Saif’s initial enthusiasm for the project, the filmmaker realized that the actor might not be the right fit. When he approached Saif with the change, the actor was understandably upset.

Raghavan emphasized that he didn’t reject Saif but rather felt a shift in the creative direction. In a previous interview with Pinkvilla, Raghavan had expressed his desire for a fresh pairing, leading to the decision not to cast Saif alongside Katrina.
‘Merry Christmas’ is slated for release on January 12 in both Hindi and Tamil, offering audiences an intriguing cinematic experience with its unconventional cast and Raghavan’s directorial prowess.
