Bengaluru: A 43-year-old software engineer of a private company was mowed down and killed by an overspeeding BMTC Vajra bus in Marathahalli Friday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Elangovan Senkataval, a resident of Kundalahalli and native of Tamil Nadu. Based on preliminary investigation, HAL airport traffic police said the accident happened around 9.45am near Spice Garden on Marathahalli-Varthur Road.Elangovan was heading to office in Bellandur on his scooter when the Banashankari-bound Vajra bus (route number 500 CA with registration number KA-01-F-9589) hit his vehicle.
Elangovan fell on the road and came under the rear wheel of the bus. Motorists alerted police and Eangovan was moved to a nearby hospital where the doctors declared him dead. Based on a complaint by Elangovan’s wife Malathi P, the bus driver, Amaresha Avari, was arrested and later released on bail.
