Class VI student among 2 killed in Tinsukia collision | Guwahati News – Times of India

Dibrugarh: A head-on collision between a speeding bike and a bicycle claimed the lives of two students at Na-Maithang village in the Kakopathar area of Tinsukia district on Sunday afternoon.
The victims were identified as 18-year-old Girish Moran, the bike rider, and 13-year-old Parag Borgohain, the cyclist. One Hiren Hazarika (18), who was pillion on the motorcycle, sustained critical injuries in the incident.Girish and Hiren were Class 12 students while Parag studied in Class 6.
Witnesses said the collision occurred when Parag Borgohain was riding his bicycle in front of his home. The bike, travelling at high speed, collided head-on with the bicycle, flinging all three individuals several metres away from the collision spot.
Following the accident, they were promptly rushed to the Kakopathar civil hospital in an ambulance where the attending medical staff declared Girish and Parag declared dead on arrival.

Earthmovers were deployed to rescue passengers and separate the vehicles. Locals and police rushed injured passengers to the hospital. Many passengers traveled in other vehicles. The condition of over 10 passengers is serious. Vehicles were queued up for over 3km. District minister MB Patil enquired about the injured persons and directed officials to ensure proper treatment.
