Lucknow: Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) will offer a BA course on film, theatre and media from 2024-25 academic session.
Under the National Education Policy (NEP), the four-year self-financing course will have 60 seats.
“Admission to the course will be done through the Common University Entrance Test. Currently, undergraduate courses on film, theatre and media are not being offered by any other university in the state,” said vice-chancellor Prof Sanjay Singh.
“This will be a specialized course, in which students will learn journalism, theatre and film. It will also open up opportunities for work in research as well as in writing and script editing. Graduates may pursue a career in film archiving and restoration, theatre artist, being film critic and others,” said journalism and mass communication head Prof Govind Pandey.
He said the course offers multiple entry and exit. A candidate, who completes the course with 75% of marks will be awarded UG with a research degree.

PPU: Take approval for UG courses from AICTE
Patliputra University (PPU) has directed constituent colleges to seek AICTE’s approval for vocational courses at the UG level by Jan 31, 2024. Earlier, AICTE approval was only required for PG vocational courses. The university’s dean of students welfare (DSW) stated that most colleges offer UG vocational courses like BCA and BBM/BBA. AICTE’s approval is now mandatory for these courses starting from 2024. AICTE has invited registration and will verify papers and documents before granting final approval.
