Attack and Robbery of Merchant Duo on Delhi-Jaipur Highway | Gurgaon News – Times of India

Gurgaon: A group of men allegedly attacked and robbed a merchant duo while they were on the Vatika flyover on the Delhi-Jaipur highway on Saturday night, police said.
Complainant Jagdish told police that he and his cousin Ankit, who work as cloth merchants in Delhi’s Mangolpuri, had been returning from a business trip to Jaipur when they were approached by the assailants around 11.45pm.
“It was late at night and the road was in a poor condition. Due to a series of potholes there, we were driving slowly on the stretch when a white Swift intercepted us from behind. They stopped right in front of our car, alighted and knocked on our car window. They appeared shady, hence, we did not lower the window glass to speak to them out of fear,” Jagdish said.
He claimed the men became agitated when the two did not cooperate and broke their car’s windows to pull them out of the vehicle. “They thrashed us, snatched my mobile phone and Rs 20,000 cash I had on me. We tried to protest but we were outnumbered and overpowered,” he added.
A case was registered on Sunday under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (wrongful restraint), 427 (mischief causing damage), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention) of the IPC at Kherki Daula police station.
The head constable at Kherki Daula police station and the investigating officer in the case, Sandeep Kumar, told TOI, “The road there is damaged which often leads to a troubled driving experience. This might have led to the altercation between both the groups. The cousins were thrashed but they haven’t sustained any serious injuries. We are checking footage from the CCTV cameras installed at Kherki Daula toll plaza and nearby areas.”
