CHENNAI: ESIC Medical College and Hospital in KK Nagar received a cadaver for its voluntary body donation unit.
Rani Velukanthan, 74, who had pledged her body, died of age-related illness on Tuesday. Her family members donated her body to ESIC Hospital on Wednesday.
ESIC Hospital thanked the family members as well as the state government and Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University for permitting the ESIC to establish a voluntary body donation unit.
ESIC Hospital appealed to people to come forward with voluntary pledging of their bodies for the cause of medical education and research.
