Hyderabad: The Telangana government not only plans to host a global Artificial Intelligence summit this year with an eye on making Hyderabad a global AI hub but will also come up with policies for renewable energy, MSMEs and consumer electronics manufacturing, Telangana IT & industries minister D Sridhar Babu said at an industry connect meet on Tuesday.
He said the government plans to focus on emerging areas such as digital transformation, cybersecurity, AI & machine learning, 5G technology, remote work technology, fourth industrial revolution (4IR), sustainability and greentech as well as policy reforms, infrastructure development, skill development, R&D, global collaborations and boosting of startup ecosystem.
Over 150 top honchos including Cyient founder chairman & former Nasscom chairman BVR Mohan Reddy, TCS president for technology, software & services V Rajanna, Google’s Arijit Sarker, Raghu Boddupally from Infosys, former TiE president Murali Bukkapatnam, as well as representatives of Hyderabad Software Enterprises Assocation (HYSEA), TVAGA (Telangana VFX, Animation and Gaming Association), attended the meeting at Infosys’ Gachibowli campus.
Industry captains are learnt to have raised over a 25-30 key concerns. The meeting lasted over two and a half hours as the minister diligently jotted down concerns raised and addressed each issue, leaving CXOs impressed, said industry sources. “He was extremely positive and responsive. He listened to everybody’s suggestions. My suggestion was about making our education system student-centric experiential to improve the quality of the around 1 lakh undergrads being churned out by nearly 165 colleges in the state as well as boosting entrepreneurship,” said Cyient’s BVR Mohan Reddy.
Rajanna of TCS, who urged the minister to extend EoDB benefits to existing units, said: “We came away feeling that we have an industry-friendly government. He listened patiently to all the suggestions and responded positively to each point.” Resolute group chairman Raminder Soin, who sought setting up of a dry port in Hyderabad, said the minister is committed to implementing all suggestions in a year.
