Berhampur: Another six youngsters from Ganjam district set out on foot for Ayodhya for a glimpse of the Ram Lalla idol in the newly-constructed Ram Mandir.
The six men — Tukuna Pardesi (28), his younger brother Santosh (22), Akash Pradhan (21), Silu Panda (37), Titu Panigrahy (22) of Berhampur and Gopal Swain (23) of Aska — are daily wagers, who started their journey on Tuesday and reached close to Aska on Wednesday.
The youths will have to walk around 1,300 km to reach Ayodhya.
On December 30, two youngsters from Kanishi in the district also began their trek to Ayodhya for a glimpse of the Ram Lalla idol.
The six daily wagers, however, have no intention of attending the consecration ceremony of the temple on January 22. “On that day, there might be a big crowd and the authorities are likely to restrict general people like us due to the presence of VIPs. We want to have a glance of the lord some days after ‘Prana Pratistha’ (consecration ceremony),” Santosh said.
“Earlier, we had planned to walk to Ayodhya to attend the inaugural function of the temple but later changed our minds and decided to reach there some days after the consecration of the idols. Our only aim is to see the Ram Lalla,” Akash said. They have set a target of walking 30 km to 35 km daily and reach Ayodhya by mid-February.
