By noon, the crowd started swelling, keeping the city police personnel deployed at the spot on their toes.
At around 1.30pm, after receiving the news that Kedar has been released, his supporters and Congress workers started shouting slogans like “Sunil Kedar Zindabad”, “Congress Party Zindabad”. But confusion prevailed as some supporters started rushing towards the main gate of the jail but others made a dash towards the Ajni Square on learning that Kedar was coming out of the jail from the south side gate.
Soon, supporters blocked the Wardha Road as Kedar emerged in an open vehicle, standing and acknowledging their greetings as they rushed to welcome him with garlands and rose petals. Supporters carried placards with a message “The Tiger is Back”. Buoyant by the support, Kedar flashed the victory sign while being part of a procession which began from the Wardha Road.
An one hour and 30 minutes later, the procession reached Samvidhan Square. Raju Parve, Praful Guddahe Patil and Kunda Raut were among the senior Congress leaders who were part of the procession.
Meanwhile, the Dhantoli police have booked Kedar and his supporters for taking out the procession allegedly without permission.
