Delay in CC Road Construction Worries Motorists in Hubballi | Hubballi News – Times of India

Hubballi: The delay in starting construction works on the cement concrete (CC) Road from Gokul Main Road to Siddaroodh Mutt Cross Road is causing much inconvenience to residents and motorists.
The existing road is in a poor condition with numerous potholes that end up hindering smooth traffic movement. Residents demand the widening of the road due to safety concerns and frequent accidents.Despite the bhoomi puja in June 2022, initiated by Hubballi’s elected representatives, the road project has been delayed.
Residents of Sahadev Nagar, Bankers Colony and other areas are facing many problems due to the bad condition of the road.
According to sources, the road is located about 4km from the heart of the city. The development of the 2km road is carried out by the public works department at a cost of Rs 7 crore. This is one of the busiest roads in the city. The recent rains have further damaged the road, which is posing risks to the lives of motorists. Despite repeated requests by the residents, the authorities have failed to start the work.
Satish Patil, Bankers Colony Abhivrudhi Sangha president told TOI that the road from Sahadev Nagar to Bankers Colony is in a bad condition and cause traffic congestion for the whole day. “We chaired a meeting to discuss the development of the road and MLA Mahesh Tenginkai was present. We demanded taking up the widening work first and then start constructing the road. Elected representatives have assured us of constructing good roads for smooth traffic movement,” he said.
Gorakhnath G, a resident of Bankers Colony, said that the road is in bad shape, causing inconvenience to the vehicles. “Pedestrians are also facing problems due to lack of footpath,” he said.
HDMC ward No.53 corporator Muhammad Ismail Bhadrapur told TOI that they have requested PWD authorities to construct a good road and take up widening of road. Due to the 6m wide road, traffic movement is slow and there is heavy traffic during peak hours.
The corporator said that the road is connected to Siddharoodha Mutt also, where many devotees face problems during festivals. “We had a meeting with the MLA and PWD officials to widen the road up to 20m near RN Shetty factory to ensure smooth traffic flow. But, the construction work has not yet started,” he added.
The PWD officials were not available for comments.
