Hyderabad: The newly elected body of the Telangana State Medical Council (TSMC) has assumed charge and is now charting out a plan to end quackery in the state, apart from pressing for a new TSMC building.
Many of the members have already filed PILs in the court on various issues including the construction of the new Osmania General Hospital (OGH) building.
After assuming charges, the TSMC new body has decided to focus on constructing a new building for the council in its first meeting where doctors can visit to renwew their licences, no objection certification, registration among others.
The current building of TSMS at Kotu is in a dilapidated condition and saw a huge space crunch when large number of doctors turned up for renewals ahead of the TSMC elections.
“We have recognized the need for a state of the art space for our doctors. We have already written to the government for land allotment. Our next focus is on ending quackery. Although TSMC has the power to seize clinics of quacks and take action against them, it was not being implemented till now,” said Dr G Srinivas, new TSMC vice chairman. TNN
