Shock, Sorrow Grip Lu A Day After Young Talent’s Life Cut Short | Lucknow News – Times of India

LUCKNOW: Friends, classmates, and hostel mates of the 20-year-old girl, who took her own life at Lucknow University’s Tilak Girls’ Hostel on Wednesday, are in a state of disbelief. Shocked by the death of the young Bachelor in Fine Arts (V semester) student, they remember her as a highly creative and meritorious student.
“She excelled in almost every form of art, standing out as one of the brightest students in our class. We still find it hard to believe that she is no longer with us,” said Ankita Singh, a BFA student and close friend of the victim girl.
The girl from Prayagraj allegedly took the extreme step after an altercation with her boyfriend. The incident came to light when her two roommates, who were out for some work, returned and knocked on the door. Post-autopsy, the girl’s body was handed over to her guardians. She was cremated at Baikunth Dham on Thursday.
“Parents, accompanied by the police, collected their daughter’s belongings from the hostel room after the cremation. Her father is an accountant in a private company in Prayagraj while her mother is a homemaker,” said a senior LU official. She was the youngest of three siblings — her eldest sister is married, and her second elder sister is mentally challenged.
A condolence meeting was held in the university’s administrative block on Thursday, which was attended by vice-chancellor Prof Alok Kumar Rai and other officials.
