Mumbai: A Pune to Goa flight was delayed for a few minutes on Thursday after the Mumbai Police deboarded and arreted a 29-year-old conman flying with his girlfriend for a holiday.
The Mulund police arrested Ganesh Ashok Bhalerao, a resident of Kharadi in Pune, on the charges of cheating, breach of trust and under the Information Technology Act. He was produced before the Mulund Metropolitan Magistrate court which remanded him to police custody.Police said accused Bhalerao had allegedly cheated a Mulund resident of Rs 84,000 under the pretext of selling him a second-hand iPhone.
“Our team learnt that he was about to take a flight to Goa. A police team, under the supervision of inspector Kanthilal Kothambire, Adinath Gawde and Shivanand Apune, rushed to Pune airport and requested the airline to deplane the accused,” said Purshottam Karad, deputy commissioner of police (Zone 7). — S Ahmed Ali
