Pune: The Pune police have submitted a proposal to the state government for sanction to prosecute Sassoon general hospital’s former dean Sanjeev Thakur in the escape case of drug kingpin Lalit Patil from the hospital on October 2, 2023.
Additional commissioner of police (crime) Ramnath Pokale on Friday said, “Inspector Nandakumar Bidwai of crime branch (unit II), who is investigating the escape case, submitted a proposal on January 5 seeking sanction by the competent authority of the Director of Medical Education and Research (DMER) at Mantralaya to prosecute Thakur under section 197 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).”
Directorate of DMER Dr Dinesh Waghmare told TOI, “I do not wish to comment on the Pune police’s proposal.”
Meanwhile, Pokale said, “We have collected sufficient evidence to show involvement of the former dean in the escape case. We cannot share details of the evidence collected at this juncture, because the investigation is in progress. Trump warns of ‘bedlam’ if his prosecution goes ahead
Donald Trump warns that prosecuting him as a former president would lead to “bedlam” in the United States. He claims immunity from prosecution and argues that it would open a “Pandora’s box.” Trump criticizes the Justice Department for targeting him as a political opponent, calling it an unfair attempt by President Biden to secure electoral victory.
