Kanpur: Kannauj perfumers and traders have prepared a ‘chariot load’ full of special Attar, rose water and mix of natural fragrances meant for the consecration ceremony at Ram temple in Ayodhya. Stored in special containers, the special chariot will leave Kannauj on Thursday after visiting important temples in the district. Apart from fine quality rose water, the chariot will carry fragrances made from Kevra, Khus, Jasmine and Shamama. These fragrances will be handed over to the temple management to be offered to Ram Lalla on the day of consecration ceremony in Ayodhya. Pawan Trivedi, president of the Attar Association, said, “The traders of Kannauj wish that the fragrance of the district should be included in the ‘Abhishek’ ritual during Ram Lalla’s pran-pratishtha.”
The chariot was welcomed at various local temples with fervour where Ram bhakts showered flower petals on it.
It was received by Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust general secretary Champat Rai later on Thursday evening.
Trivedi claimed that the attar prepared especially for the occasion has a secret mix of herbs that will leave the temple town immersed in Kannauj’s fragrance on the day of consecration ceremony. “Shamama, a secret mixture of herbs, has been used in making this special perfume,” Trivedi said and added it will not only make Ram Lalla, but also the entire temple premises fragrant on January 22.
Shamama, an essential oil, is created manually by artisans of Kannauj.
